Triumph of Galatea

I have not detected an artist for this work, but it appears to be very old, from the crackled effect of the paint.

According to Greek Mythology, Galatea was a Nymph of the sea and carried about on a chariot pulled by two dolphins.

Cherubs flew above her.

The famous artist, Raphael, depicted the scene and many artists have subsequently executed their versions.

Galatea

This canvas is 26 x 31 and has a masonite backing.

It is obvious that over the course of time, it has been touched up in several places by a less skilled artist.
