Lap Robe

This lap robe was probably used in either a Packard or a Rolls Royce of the 1920s or 1930s  vintage.
I make this assumption because the family that had it, had owned a Packard dealership at one point, and also had several Rolls Royce items in the estate.

It is a grey and black stripe that was very common/similar to the upholstery that was used in the Packards.

The underside of the robe is a rich plush olive green.
It is the same plush that is on the 1937 Packard Super Eight and Twelve lap robe.

I first thought this robe was for the 1937 Packard, but I know that the 1937 Packard robe had four rows of stitching around the edge; this robe has only three.

I would say that this robe is in VERY good to excellent condition....but not impeccable.  It does have a couple of almost-visible stains from, perhaps, a glass of scotch that was spilled on it 80 years ago,
There are also a few very minute insect holes in it, which you can see in the second picture.  Yes, you have to look VERY close to see them.  Certainly, if this robe were hanging on your robe rail, judges would never detect them.

The large monogram appears to be grey leather.

Unfortunately, I do not seem to be able to get the camera to capture the richness of the color of the plush side.

Just ask yourself.....'When was the last time a lap robe like this was available?"

Don't pass this one up!
